Why would I need to increase an image file size?

Many government forms, job applications, college admissions, and document uploads require images to be above a minimum file size (e.g. "photo must be between 100KB and 500KB"). This tool helps you meet those requirements.

How does it increase the file size?

For JPEG/WebP: the tool maximizes encoding quality and if needed, slightly upscales dimensions to add more pixel data. For PNG: it upscales dimensions since PNG quality can't be adjusted. The image looks the same or better.

Does the image quality get worse?

No. Quality stays the same or improves since we increase encoding quality. Dimensions may increase slightly for very large targets.

What if my target is smaller than the current file?

This tool only increases size. For reducing file size, use our Compress Image tool.

Are my images uploaded to a server?
